Dreaming of Winter

I haven't updated this blog in a long time. I've been super busy with the etsy store lately. Yesterday, I received a large order of yarns in some yummy new colors. I'll be making more lamb hats from these.

My husband is helping me take photos and list items for the etsy store so the store will have more things in stock at a time.

Even though it's been 110 and above in Phoenix lately, I'm already enthusiastically thinking about winter items for BJDs! I made a couple of pairs of Minifee earmuff prototypes. I should be offering these for sale soon in lots of beautiful colors and designs.

I finally got around to sewing some outfits for Minifee. I listed 5 sets on ebay and sold 4 of them already. The fifth has bids so it will be selling as well. I will have more listed soon.

Well, I hope you are all having a great summer!

Thank you for supporting my work.

Fabric Incoming and BJD Meet Up

I have an order of fabric due for delivery today! Hopefully, these will inspire me to start sewing for my etsy shop more.

Lately, I have been crocheting...a lot. I really enjoy it though as it's not as noisy and is much more forgiving than sewing.

The order of fabric today includes some cute heart print and some star print fabrics. I picked up a sweater knit in black and grey and some really cute dot prints in black and pink. Lastly, I couldn't resist buying more ruffle knits in white, cream, and purple.

I really liked the black ruffle knit I ordered last time and actually made an adorable Minifee skirt out of that fabric. Later, I saw a skirt in one of my mail order fashion catalogs that was just like it only in my size!

Tomorrow, I am going to a BJD meet up. I haven't been to one since the last convention I attended in October so I'm really excited to see everyone again and meet some new BJD owners.

I am bringing my two new additions: Minifee Chloe and Littlefee Chiwoo, along with Volks Nana and Littlefee Piki. I think that's all that I'll be able to fit in my SD carrier bag and carry around the event comfortably.

There are lots of sheep hats and other crochet hats that will be going up on the etsy store this weekend. More clothing will hopefully be coming starting next week.

Thanks everyone!

Work in Progress

I spent some time in between commissions this week to work on making my lamb hats in SD size. I've had a ton of requests for these so I figured I better get to it.

My girl has a HUGE head but it should be very easy to make these for a 8-9 head. Her head is a 9.5".

I started to sew on the face but didn't make it all the way around yet. I also have the ears just sitting up there on the hat, not sewn on.

I will totally finish this tomorrow but it's getting late here and I'm all tired out. Night everyone!

What's Coming Next

Bet you didn't know that I recently took up heirloom style sewing for BJDs. I haven't had a chance to put any of the outfits I've made on etsy yet because I've been keeping busy with so many other things like commissions and crocheting.

I only took one photo of one of my heirloom creations and it's only from the lower bust up. Maybe I'll get a chance to take a more detailed photo later.

I really love sewing with knits but lately that heirloom batiste and those delicate laces have been calling out to me to create something beautiful.

Until next time...

Baa Baa Purple Sheep?

I have lots of wool (yarn) so I made some sheep hats in various colors for Minifee. These little lambs have been scurrying out of here quickly all day long but word has it that another flock is headed to my etsy shop.

These are very limited right now as they do take quite a while to herd (crochet) so get 'em while I have them listed.

Most of my lamb hats have been spoken for but if you're still dreaming about one I have 2 green, 1 pink, 1 yellow, 1 purple and 1 blue one left.

Going up on the etsy shop in 3,2,1...

In Development for the Etsy Shop

My first shipment of yarn arrived yesterday and of course it didn't take long before I was thinking of new things to create with it.

Yesterday evening, I finalized a pattern for a BJD bunny hat and this morning I worked out the ears for a BJD kitty hat. They should be appearing in the etsy shop soon.

I can't wait for my yarn order from the UK to arrive. The yarn looks beautiful online and is available in more natural colors so my animal hats will be worn by ball jointed dolls that are dressed in a more neutral or dark color palette.

In the mean time, I will be using this pastel yarn to make more animal hats. The first batch of hats that went up on etsy have sold out!

Today, I am expecting an order of crochet cotton, and a very unique looking yarn that I've never used before. I decided to order some crochet cotton colors that I haven't offered in the past including olive green and navy blue.

It seems that my color choices in the BJD world mimic my real-life wardrobe. Lately, I've been adding a ton of neutrals to my personal wardrobe and I've always had a fondness for anything that looks militaristic.

A big update to the etsy shop will be coming over the weekend. There should be some off-shoulder shirts and lots of hats for sale soon!

Just Arrived - New Fabric!

Yesterday was a great day because both UPS and the Postal Service brought me large orders of fabric.

I always seem to get a boost to my creativity when new fabric arrives. I can just envision all of the BJD clothes I'm going to make from each yard.

Pictured is some of the fabric I received. In the first row is a star print thermal that will make some great boy's shirts, an adorable Hello Kitty print, and a skull and clock print cotton knit. The skull and clock print was a great find for me because I've bought this print from another store in the past and didn't think I'd be able to find more once they ran out. This one is even better than the first because it's thinner and will make for better BJD clothes.

In the second row is the clock and skull print cotton knit again. I managed to even find it in brown! Also a wonderful thin sweater knit that is scaled perfectly for BJD clothing. The coloring is absolutely gorgeous.

The last row starts with the gorgeous sweater knit in purple, a really cool black ruffle fabric, and finally a crinkly brown rayon knit that will make great high neck shirts for BJD boys.

The other shipment of fabrics contained t shirt fabric and matching ribbing. I'm getting ready to sew like crazy this spring and summer and these will make awesome warm weather dresses.

Well, that's all I received of the supplies I've ordered. Next up will be large shipments of yarn for new hats!

P.S. I just checked and one of my yarn shipments is scheduled for delivery today. More bear hats should be added to the etsy shop soon!

New Web site!

Guppykisses.com is live again! On the new site you can find out more about my BJD clothing and submit your commission requests.

The last version of the site never received the attention that it truly deserved and eventually, it was tucked away in favor of my etsy store front.

I hope to give the site and the etsy store front equal attention in the future. Maybe one day, I will be able to conduct 100% of my business front this central hub.

With a renewed interest in the BJD hobby, I have been spending lots of time procuring exciting new fabrics and yarns and developing new clothing designs. I hope you and your ball jointed doll enjoy my latest creations.

Along with new BJD clothing designs and the new web site, there is also a renewed focus on customer communication and customer satisfaction. These areas have always been a strong point of our shop over some of the others in the BJD hobby and we wish to continue developing these as our strongest characteristics.

Thanks a bunch and I hope you'll stop by often!
